Thanksgiving in Rincon, Puerto Rico

We rolled into Rincon on Thanksgiving day sometime after noon. Hungry for lunch, we headed towards Balnearo de Rincon thinking we could perhaps find a place along the water to grab a bite. We passed through an archway to see a restaurant with a buffet right on the water. Turns out it was a Thanksgiving feast for their employees. We took a moment to enjoy the sun while the husband spoke with the locals. Vegan in Paradise

Puerto Rican food is often fried, usually meat of some sort. It’s abundant and easily accessible in restaurants, roadside stands and by the beach. When eating healthy and mostly vegetarian if not vegan, it can be a challenge finding food that is satisfying.  I love that the island has an abundance of fresh fruits such as mango, avocado, papaya, coconut, etc. Eating local is the best way to immerse yourself into the culture of where you are.
